Facts Behind Frequent Failure Of A Water Pump Motor (Or) Submersible Pump

The movement of water is a primary concern for both the domestic and industrial sectors. Starting from a homemaker to farmer (or) hotel servant to industrialist, everyone needs to have pumping mechanism of water in order to fulfill their requirements. Pumps and Motors can effectively serve this purpose and assure us a hassle-free lifestyle. Water Pump Motors and Submersible Pumps are the two most notable hardware machines which are generally used to satisfy these needs. But, there are some ways which lead to failure of their functioning. Let us know in detail context about them.

1. Excessive Heat & Reverse Rotation

Water Pump Motor usually generates a lot of heat on its own, depending on usage and design. As per a survey, it is clearly revealed that every Ten degrees of additional heat that are delivered to the windings reduces the life of a motor by half. On the other side, if we give wiring connection in a reverse manner, then the motor runs backward. If it happens, then little quantity of water will be pumped but it leads to the polishing of impeller and leading to cavitation.

2. Dust And Contamination & Silt And Rust Damages

When the Water Pump Motor starts running, it can easily draw dust particles. Once those particles reach the core of the motor, they can cause a lot of damage. Dust particles with abrasive and electrical qualities wear down the contact components of the motor and they also interfere with the electrical currents. In the context of Submersible Pumps, just like other pumps, they can also easily get more rusted when exposed to air or submerged in the water. We should take appropriate precautions to avoid this problem.

3. Improper Lubrication & Plumbing System Leak

For Water Pump Motor, improper lubrication is a huge issue. As per the manufacturer’s specifications, each motor has to be lubricated without any fail. We should use correct lubricant in order to have a longer lifespan of the motor. Submersible Pumps sometimes may face the issue of Plumbing system leak. At that time, service line should be examined for leaks. Accordingly, repair works in service line should be done.

4. Requisite Pressure & No Overload Protection

A Water Pump Motor has to switch its pressure levels according to the requirements. For example, a small cottage requires 10-20 LPM, a small house demands 20-30 LPM, a medium house needs 30-50 LPM and 50-90 LPM for a large house. If the circuit breaker and fuses are not operating correctly within a Submersible Pump, then it will not be able to withstand overload. At that time, we have to replace fuses and reset the breaker if it has been tripped.

5. Power Supply Aberrations & Pressure Tank Leaks Above Water Level

Due to the various requirements in different industries, some important factors like Pulse Width Modulation and High-Frequency Switching can face severe aberrations. Every one of them counts for the reduction of Water Pump Motor’s life span. It is much crucial that managing of power delivery should be done in a proper manner. If the Pressure Tank leaks above water level within a Submersible Pump, then we have to apply a soapy mixture to the entire tank surface. If the bubbles come out, then it is the indication that the air has been escaping. We can fix this issue by replacing submersible pump tank.
